Bugs is a genderneutral name meaning “sweet”, although it’s also used to call someone crazy.  Which applies to her as well since Bugs was born the moment we went to transport Lilly from one nature preserve to another, making it all a crazy adventure.

We use it as short for Lillybug, a derivative of Lovebug meaning “sweetheart” and “a person in love” and because “bug” has the connotation of “small”.   So Lillybug actually stands for “Lilly’s little sweetheart”, because Bugs was so small when she was born and Lilly was the most protective mom we’ve ever encountered in our fold.
